I hit a bit of a denim rut recently where I felt like my collection was severely lacking. So naturally I got serious shopping tunnel vision to find great jeans and in doing so realized there are a lot of great options out there that don’t compromise quality for price. My top two tips for scoring premium denim minus the premium price tag –
- Check the material tag for 98-100% cotton. Full cotton denim gives a much more luxe look than those with a lot of stretch – IMO.
- Alterations, alterations, alterations! Shall I say it again?! Alterations! Finding a great tailor that’s reasonably priced is non-negotiable. I often find that with most of my jeans, I have to go up in sizing so they fit my hips and thighs but the waist is huge. I don’t spend more than $15 getting my waist taken in and just like that I have a pair of jeans that look like they were made just for ME! You can also cut off the bottoms for a frayed finish that hits at or above the ankle.
In addition to the jeans I’m wearing in this post and linked to above, I’m also sharing some others I recently picked up in my denim quest that are all under $100 here, here and here.
